Congress and White House. See who came at your door with the most beautiful smile.
My role in the universe is a creator of hope.
For the million people stuck with no rights in green card backlog, please know there is hope and one day you will get rights.
Many people think I am doing this for India. That's not true.
Many think I am doing this for America. Not true either.
I am doing this for our future in democracies.
It is not acceptable to invite someone to America, through legal means, have them pay taxes and give them no rights throughout their lives. Especially not giving them right to vote. Delaying someone's right to vote is delaying someone's rights.
The trip to Washington DC was an eye opener. I really thought democrats would protect my rights but feels like Republicans understand the constitution better.
Republicans understand what's wrong here and are supporting this change, wow I was so shocked.
When I came to America for the 1st time in 2015, I came to Omaha, Nebraska and people told you won't be welcomed. It's crazy, I got the most amount of love in Omaha. My housemate's Joe's family, big republican supporters, treated me as a family member and would take me to dinners and church and I enjoyed every bit of time with them. Connie, Joe’s mother, we are still great friends. I send her gifts and she loves it. They visit me when they visit California.
I am still not able to understand what tech CEOs are thinking. I know they get a lot of advantage by keeping people in the green card backlog. I hope that Satya, Sundar etc understand that denying my right to vote in a democracy is not how you build high skilled leverage. Karma works in mysterious ways.
Whatever dude, right to vote is a fundamental right. And no engineer, scientist or doctor should be deprived of this right in a democracy after living for 15+ years and paying all taxes.
America should focus on getting Americans educated in STEM. No party is doing anything for that.
Until then, if you are getting talent from outside America, please don't exploit them forever in their lives. Give them basic rights.
I don't even know how long I am going to live in America. I mean I came to America to explore this land. I loved India and I have all the desire to go back. Who thought they would keep me forever in this backlog and restrict my freedom even during the years I would live here.
Most people don't understand but freedom is essential for my survival. After my drowning incident in Lake Tahoe I thought there was no way to be truly free without learning to swim that led me to swim from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco.
Once we free America, I will go back to my home in Himalayas. Will invite all American friends. We will climb mountains. It's beautiful out there. I want to spend more time with the mountains.
America is a great country and above all a beacon of hope.
Don't worry, we got this. Let's create hope.
